MATH 1-2-3®, Inc. was founded in January 1995. We are a premium private home and virtual math tutoring and test preparation service that specializes in all levels of mathematics: elementary through college-level calculus. In addition to everyday academic tutoring, we also offer tutoring for the math portions of all standardized tests. Due to the common problem of calculator dependence, we teach our students to be self-reliant through the use of Mental Math Shortcuts (MMS™). Many times, a student can perform a calculation in his head more quickly than he can by using a calculator. Students who master MMS™ literally buy themselves extra time at the end of a test.
In addition to virtual math tutoring, we offer private home tutoring and test preparation throughout the NYC tri-state area (all 5 boroughs of NYC, Westchester County, Rockland County, Long Island, including The Hamptons, Northern NJ, and Southwestern CT). We do not try to be an agency that is a “jack of all trades and master of none.” Rather, we specialize in math. We are not “homework helpers.” That is what classmates and parents are for. Instead, we are true math experts. Parents and students really do expect us to know everything, and rightfully so! To qualify as a MATH 1-2-3® tutor, the prospective tutor must be able to answer any question that is thrown at him from any book at any time (or at least 99% of the time). MATH 1-2-3® often cleans up the mistakes that others have made. We are often told that we explain math more clearly than other tutoring agencies or teachers do.
MATH 1-2-3® recruits top-notch teachers and others with tutoring experience and strong math backgrounds (e.g., engineers, math professors, architects, actuaries, and accountants). We often hire tutors who were formerly paid a lot less by one of our worthy competitors in the test prep industry. We have tutored many students of all ages and we look forward to working with you too!
